The former fisherman’s house Casa Carvalho is located directly by the sea and is therefore the ideal spot for a relaxing beach vacation. The beach is only 2 minutes away. Casa Carvalho is an authentic fisherman’s house at Salema beach that was completely renovated. It offers a spacious, fully equipped kitchen that merges into the living room, two comfortable bedrooms with shutters, a bathroom with a window and large shower, a corridor with plenty of space for beach utensils, and a terrace with shaded seating under a pergola, sunbeds and sunshades. On the terrace you can enjoy the unlimited sea view, watch the fishermen returning home from fishing early in the morning or, with a bit of luck, see dolphins passing by in the ocean.
In front of the house is a small park with a fitness trail. Anybody who wants to stay fit can exercise here and enjoy an outdoor training experience with ocean view.
The cozy kitchen has two roof windows that provide light and fresh air. The windows can be opened and closed with a remote control. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine, microwave, etc…
The internet in Casa Carvalho is for free and can be accessed via Wi-Fi. There is also an HDMI cable available that can be used to connect a laptop to the flat-screen TV and a satellite dish that provides access to English and many other TV channels.
The price per night covers internet, bedlinen/sheets and towels that can be changed weekly if necessary, heating, and final cleaning. If needed, we can provide a travel bed for children with bedding and bedlinen, and a high chair without additional charges.
Even during winter season Casa Carvalho is a cozy place to stay: There is a fireplace in the living room and natural stone heating in all rooms, that can easily be regulated by thermostat.

Fantastic holiday home and resort
Casa Carvalho is fantastic for vacation – the house is right on the beach, has beautiful sea views and is perfectly equipped. We were guests in Casa Carvalho for the second time and in Salema for the fifth time. I hope we can go again next year!

It’s not easy to give a positive rating here – solely because the competition for bookings will increase… Seriously: The cottage is perfect in terms of location, facilities and surroundings and not to forget: the landlady.
Much more than just a beach holiday
A pretty fully equipped cottage, excellent location and attentive care by Célia Rosado and Marion Carvalho.
On the terrace you can sit wonderfully in the sun, look at the sea or “people watch” from the sheltered dining area. The extensive beach is practically in front of the courtyard door and in the village you quickly made contacts with the locals.
Days can be spent in Salema lounging on the beach, hiking the hills, or just lounging in the bars and restaurants. If you want to go out to sea by boat, you can book various tours directly on the beach, which are really fun.
But Salema is also a good starting point for excursions into the wider area – to Sagres in the west with the cliff landscape, to the old town of Lagos in the east or to the national park in the north with pine forests, surfers’ paradise and spectacular nature trails.
In short: we felt very comfortable….

My niece (13) and I (41) stayed at Casa Carvahlo for a week in the summer of 2018.
The telephone contact with the Carvalho couple was very pleasant and friendly.
We immediately felt at home in the Casa in Salema.
The spacious kitchen is very well equipped.
Each of us had a bedroom with a double bed (estimate about 140×200 cm).
From one of the rooms you can even see the sea while lying down 🙂
Many beach utensils such as bodyboards, umbrellas, etc. were available for shared use.
The terrace is the icing on the cake.
Wonderful view of the sea and ideal place for nice, cozy summer evenings.
The house is lovingly furnished and very clean and well maintained.
We had a very nice time and would come back anytime.
Perfect holiday in a dream location
There were four of us in Casa Carvalho and we had an unforgettable holiday there. Not only did we have perfect weather and sea views from both rooms, we were only 1-2 minutes from the beach and therefore had a great location. The house is lovingly designed and well equipped. This was especially noticeable when cooking. The house was big and spacious and the terrace was the finishing touch.
Communication with the housekeeper and Mrs. Carvalho also went smoothly.
From my side a definite recommendation for everyone who wants to spend a relaxing holiday on the beautiful Atlantic Ocean with the perfect accommodation.
