The former fisherman’s house Casa Carvalho is located directly by the sea and is therefore the ideal spot for a relaxing beach vacation. The beach is only 2 minutes away. Casa Carvalho is an authentic fisherman’s house at Salema beach that was completely renovated. It offers a spacious, fully equipped kitchen that merges into the living room, two comfortable bedrooms with shutters, a bathroom with a window and large shower, a corridor with plenty of space for beach utensils, and a terrace with shaded seating under a pergola, sunbeds and sunshades. On the terrace you can enjoy the unlimited sea view, watch the fishermen returning home from fishing early in the morning or, with a bit of luck, see dolphins passing by in the ocean.
In front of the house is a small park with a fitness trail. Anybody who wants to stay fit can exercise here and enjoy an outdoor training experience with ocean view.
The cozy kitchen has two roof windows that provide light and fresh air. The windows can be opened and closed with a remote control. There is a dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine, microwave, etc…
The internet in Casa Carvalho is for free and can be accessed via Wi-Fi. There is also an HDMI cable available that can be used to connect a laptop to the flat-screen TV and a satellite dish that provides access to English and many other TV channels.
The price per night covers internet, bedlinen/sheets and towels that can be changed weekly if necessary, heating, and final cleaning. If needed, we can provide a travel bed for children with bedding and bedlinen, and a high chair without additional charges.
Even during winter season Casa Carvalho is a cozy place to stay: There is a fireplace in the living room and natural stone heating in all rooms, that can easily be regulated by thermostat.

Always dreamy
After 10 days in August we were again in the house for a week. During the autumn holidays to recharge your batteries for the winter. It was gorgeous again! When the day starts with a coffee on the beach in the morning sun, watching the fishermen and looking out to sea… totally relaxing. The parking lot is an asset to the house. We had already noticed that in the summer and now – with more luggage – again. We will be happy to come back again in the future and enjoy the tranquility of this magical place. We spent a week in Casa Carvalho in September 2022 and it was amazing!
When you step outside onto the terrace, you immediately have a wonderful view of the sea, which constantly murmurs in the background.
The house is equipped with everything you need.

Perfectly equipped house in a fantastic location
We were in the house for the second time. It’s just perfect to spend the holidays there. In a quiet location without traffic, but with the constant sound of the sea – vacation just the way we love it. The seating on the terrace protects against the blazing sun and wind / drizzle, the house is well stocked with everything you could need. The long corridor is ideal for depositing beach items, as this keeps the sand away from the living room as far as possible.
The beach is ideal for relaxing and not totally overcrowded. Not even on the weekend in August. On a windless day, dolphins frolic right in front of the beach.
The contact with landlords and the manager is friendly and relaxed. We’ll be back soon and we’ll enjoy it again!

Casa Carvalho has probably been family-owned for generations and you can also tell that the extensive renovation and the furnishings were carried out practically and with great attention to detail. There are even some traditional objects in the house that have always belonged there.
The two bedrooms are equipped with large wardrobes. In the kitchen you will find everything you need to cook for yourself or to prepare something for the terrace. This has two loungers, a seating area for 4 people, offers wonderful shade when it’s really hot and protection from the wind. The view is terrific, we even saw dolphins far in the sea. The communication with the owner in German and the housekeeper in English is uncomplicated and very friendly.
A magical cottage with great views, located a stone's throw away from the beach
Casa Carvalho is a magical little place located a stone’s throw away from the beach in the beautiful fishing village of Salema. The owners were very kind, flexible & accommodating, especially as this was a rescheduled holiday from 2020 due to lockdown. The cottage is immaculately clean, the kitchen is very well equipped, the bed is comfortable and there’s a power shower. But our favourite part is the outside area with the most beautiful view overlooking the Atlantic.
