A Trip to Cabo de São Vicente

Cabo de São Vincente and its lighthouse are located at the most south-western point of Europe.

When you are visiting Sagres you should take a small detour to this spot, it’s worth it!

Lighthouse

The fortifications of the lighthouse of Cabo de São Vincente offer a breathtaking view of the Atlantic Ocean. The cliffs are up to 70 meters high and surrounded by the ocean on three sides. This view already makes the trip to the “end of the world” an unforgettable experience, especially when you have the chance to watch the sunset here. At the lighthouse there is a small restaurant and museum, where you can learn more about the history of this place.

As Cabo de São Vincente is always a bit windy you should take a warm jacket with you or buy a poncho or sweater at the local stands in front of the entrance to the lighthouse.

If you don’t have a rental car, you can also reach Sagres and Cabo de São Vincente by public transportation.

LAST BRATWURST BEFORE AMERICA

On the road to the lighthouse you will find the stand Letzte Bratwurst vor America where a German couple sells bratwursts from Germany for more than 20 years.

The stand reached cult status and is part of the obligatory program – you can even get a certificate of your visit at Cabo de São Vincente.
